Florida has long been America’s favorite beach destination, boasting renowned coastal towns and year-round sunshine.

And now, one Floridian hot spot is surging in popularity during the winter months.

Palm Beach is renowned as a popular choice for snowbirds and winter sun seekers.  In fact, it holds the title as “America’s First Resort Destination” thanks to its long-standing purpose-built resorts.

With white sand beaches, rich history, and 39 towns and villages to choose from, here’s why the Palm Beaches are surging in popularity this winter.

Why Palm Beach?

You can’t underestimate the size of the Palm Beach area.

There are more than 19,100 hotel rooms and more than 100 attractions to choose from here. And more than 9 million visitors explored the Palm Beaches last year.

This is a year-round resort area, but it seems to really come alive during the winter months.

When most people think about Florida (myself included) they think of Orlando.

The Walt Disney corporation have done a great job of marketing as Orlando as being the only place in Florida to a global audience!

But actually if its beautiful beaches, luxurious vacation vibes, and the change to really relax and unwind that you’re looking for then this is the place to be.

Things To Do In Palm Beach

As the name suggests, the beaches are the main attractions of the Palm Beach area. There are more than 47 miles of beaches to choose from.

Some of the most popular of these include Coral Cove Park, which offers the best snorkeling in the area, and Jupiter Beach Park, with its gentle waters and picture-perfect lagoon.

But if you’re not a beach bum, don’t worry  – there’s so much more to the Palm Beaches!

Think museums, galleries, and world-renowned cultural attractions. One of the best of these is the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum. This is a stunning Gilded Age estate and now a National Historic Landmark with regularly changing exhibits. Admission is charged at $28 per adult.

If you are interested in golfing, then Palm Beach is the place to be. Thanks to its incredible 160 golf courses, the Palm Beaches have been nicknamed the golf capital of Florida.

The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches is a PGA Tour golf tournament that takes place here every year.

This year, it will take place from February 26 to March 3.

Take To The Water

One of the best ways to see Palm Beach from a new perspective is to take to the water.

West Palm Beach Marina

Visit Palm Beach offers cruises and boat tours with their Intracoastal Waterway Sightseeing cruise taking 2 hours to tour the Palm Beaches, with prices starting from $45 per person.

For something a little more luxurious, you could try a dinner cruise or a catamaran day trip.

Alternatively, if you want to take to the water independently then why not hire a canoe or paddleboard? This is a great way to explore at your own pace and with a small budget. Rental starts from $17.50 per hour.

The year-round warm water temperatures, paired with the sunny tropical climate, means winter is a great time to get in the water in Palm Beach.

Getting To Palm Beach

Another reason for the popularity of the Palm Beaches is that they are so easy to access.

Palm Beach boasts its own airport, the Palm Beach International Airport.

Skyscanner shows that you can fly nonstop to Palm Beach from 28 different U.S. cities and with return flight prices starting from $57 per person in December.

You can also explore the Palm Beach area with ease from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Miami International Airports if these are more convenient based on your departure point.

If you’d rather arrive by rail then both Brightline and Tri-Rail offer routes straight to Palm Beach, and of course you can use the Florida Turnpike if you choose to take a road trip.

Each of these routes make the Palm Beaches wonderfully accessible.
